CASH DRAWER NOT OPENING USING F8 KEYBOARD OPTION
StarTSP powered Cashdrawer:
Go to set-up Wizard, Receipt Printer Setup screen then select Advanced Settings and selected the option to Control A Star cash drawer using Windows. (This option does not work with all devices.) Next you will need to initialize which will send the message to the printer. This is done by ringing up a sale or reprinting an invoice. Then try the F8 key. This option may eject a small amount of paper & cut it as it is used.
Bematech CR3003U USB Cashdrawer:
If your cashdrawer stops functioning after restarting the computer follow the instructions below. Open a notepad and enter the following
mode com2 96,n,8,1
com2 would need to be changed to the actual com port the drawer is using. This can be located in the device manager.
Then save the file as a bat file ".bat" then move this file into the windows startup menu. On windows 10 click "Windows key" and "R" at the same time then select the "Run" Command. Then type into the box "shell:startup"
drag the bat file into the folder that appears. Then restart the computer. This will automatically open the port at restart for the bematech drawer.
